Dolce&Gabbana spring/summer 2027: sheer socks, hold-ups and net stockings, look by look
Black voile socks with jewelled sandals, hold-ups with suspenders on show, crochet and net stockings: the hosiery of the Stravaganza Siciliana show, examined across all 81 looks.

On Saturday 26 September 2026, at the Metropol in Milan, Dolce&Gabbana presented its spring/summer 2027 collection, titled Stravaganza Siciliana. Of the 81 looks documented in the official gallery of the Camera Nazionale della Moda Italiana, around thirty have dressed legs: almost always a black voile sock or knee-high worn with an open sandal, in some cases black hold-ups, in others openwork crochet stockings. We went through them one by one, in the order they walked.
The collection: the family wardrobe
The title says it. According to FashionNetwork Italia, Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana "choose to explore the cultural heritage of their beloved Sicily through an unprecedented generational handover". Mediaset Infinity describes a collection in which "lace, crochet, old trousseaux and grandmother's dresses mix", where "the tablecloth becomes a slit skirt, the light curtains of the palazzi a transparent tunic". Il Sole 24 Ore, which places the show at the Metropol, dwells on shoes and bags: pumps with hand-embroidered flowers and coloured buttons.
On the legs, the most precise account is Life&People's: "lace is present in slips, long gloves, suspender belts and hold-ups", while on the feet "jewelled sandals coexist with black voile socks" and "rough green rubber rain boots peek out from under a dark broderie anglaise robe". The gallery confirms all three sentences, and adds a few details.
The black voile sock, from the first look to the last
It is the first thing you see. The show opens with a black jacket over a white broderie skirt tied with black laces and, underneath, a sheer black ankle sock with a lace edge and a jewelled sandal. Two looks later, a black crochet set wears it higher: a sheer knee-high, with a sandal decorated with a red rose. Right after, the knee-high goes with a lace bra and a white knitted skirt with a slit.

From there the sock returns steadily. At the ankle under a cream lace skirt with a leopard jacket, under a white embroidered skirt, under a leopard tube dress where the black sandal has a red rose on the instep. At the knee with a rose-sequinned pencil skirt, with a green jacket embroidered with corals and shorts, with a turquoise-trimmed leopard jacket, with a green satin top and a multicoloured sequin skirt finished with a jewelled pump. Under a polka-dot lace tunic the sock has a lace edge again. Towards the end, a black chiffon dress with a feather boa ends with the same ankle sock and a strappy sandal.

The black voile never appears with trousers. In the denim looks the foot is bare in a sandal or a flat shoe. The sock belongs with skirts, dresses and shorts, and it is always paired with an open shoe: the foot stays visible through the hosiery.
Hold-ups, suspenders and a pair of rubber boots
The black hold-ups arrive with the shorts. A black cardigan with a floral scarf is worn over pink gingham shorts; the stockings rise to mid-thigh and the pump has a red rose on the toe. Five looks later, with a sheer polka-dot blouse over black gingham shorts, the same stockings go into black riding boots, with a straw basket bag in hand. A gilded leopard jacket with lace-hemmed black shorts comes with black gloves and legs covered entirely in opaque black down to a jewelled sandal: from the photograph it is impossible to tell whether they are tights or long stockings.

Midway through the show comes the dark broderie robe quoted by Life&People, open over a lace bra: underneath, black over-the-knee stockings and green rubber boots with a brown cuff, with a black basket bag. Later, a fitted black jacket with a white bow and a lace-hemmed mini end with plain-top black hold-ups and black pointed pumps. The suspenders arrive in the final stretch: a black lace slip, long gloves, suspender straps on show and black hold-ups with a deep top, with black pumps.

Net, crochet and lace on the legs
The third family is the openwork stockings, and it follows one fixed rule: the shoe is always flat, pointed and black. A black leather waistcoat and fur-trimmed shorts are worn with black openwork knee socks. A black lace tunic over black lingerie reveals openwork over-the-knee stockings with a lace top. A shredded black tulle dress shows knee socks of the same kind.

A black cardigan and a cream crochet skirt are matched with black crochet knee socks. A short black embroidered dress is worn with diamond-lattice over-the-knee stockings. There is also one look in a single black net fabric from head to toe, with black ballet flats.

Boots and bare legs
Where there is no hosiery, there are often boots: gilded and worked under a peacock-feather skirt, tapestry under a leopard skirt and under lace-hemmed denim shorts, red rubber, brown riding boots with a white lace dress. Completely bare legs remain a minority, appearing mostly with the long floral chiffon dresses and with jeans.

How to read these legs now
The show offers three pairings that can be repeated without waiting for spring. The first is the sheer black sock, ankle or knee length, with an open shoe: it works with any knee-length skirt, and the light density keeps the foot visible. The second is the black hold-up with shorts, with a pump or with a tall boot: on the runway the two versions walk a few minutes apart. The third is the openwork knee sock with a flat pointed shoe, with a long skirt or with shorts. For the denier of sheer hosiery, our denier guide explains what changes between 8, 15 and 20.
