Olivia Rodrigo's barely-there Wolford tights: get the tour look

On the opening night of The Unraveled Tour a Hussein Chalayan dress dissolved in the rain and left the red minidress, and the sheer Wolford tights, in plain view.

Olivia Rodrigo's tights are the detail nobody was supposed to notice: so sheer that, in the photographs from her new tour, they read as a light veil over the legs. On the opening night of The Unraveled Tour, a dress made to disappear drew all the attention, and what was left in view once it had gone was a red minidress and a pair of sheer Wolford tights.

This is what the sources confirm, what they leave open, and which pair gets you closest, with the rule we always apply: if a product is credited we call it "exact", if we choose it ourselves we call it "similar".

The moment: "The Cure" in the rain

The tour began on 25 September 2026 at PeoplesBank Arena in Hartford, Connecticut. For "The Cure", the song that gives the tour its name, Rodrigo came on in a custom Hussein Chalayan dress, pale and collared, with a pleated skirt; as artificial rain fell, WWD reports, the outer layer "began breaking apart in irregular, translucent strips", exposing red lace corsetry underneath. Chalayan told WWD the outer dress is made of "a special paper-like material that dissolves when it comes into contact with water", and that the red lace-and-tulle corseted dress beneath was the point of it all: a reveal about vulnerability, in his words.

The look was styled by the sisters Chloe and Chenelle Delgadillo, who credited the designer on Instagram.

The tights: what the sources say

Here the facts are thinner. The Fashion Spot described, on 30 September, a red micro minidress with a corset-inspired bodice and a tiny ruffled hem, "paired with completely sheer tights by Wolford", and wrote that Rhea Agency "confirmed the styling detail on Instagram, tagging Wolford". We found the post: on 29 September the agency wrote "@oliviarodrigo in @wolford for The Unraveled Tour" under photos of the red look in the rain, the legs in clear view. Yahoo says the reveal "put a spotlight on Rodrigo's Wolford tights", with an "ultra-sheer finish".

What nobody states, here or anywhere else, is the style. Wolford makes many sheer styles, and neither the colour nor the denier is documented. The Fashion Spot also mentions a pale blue frayed garment tied around her waist in one photograph; it matches WWD's description of the dissolved outer dress, but the site does not make the link, so we leave it as an observation.

Why sheer works under a dress that disappears

The costume was built to change in front of a full arena, and that is exactly why the legs stay quiet. When the top layer dissolves, the eye goes to the red, to the lace, to the water. A sheer leg adds polish without adding a second event. An opaque black tight would have cut the red minidress off at the thigh; a coloured one would have competed with it. The effect is the one we describe in our denier guide: at 10 to 15 denier the skin shows through and the tight is a finish, not a colour.

It is also a very Wolford idea. The Austrian brand, whose history we have traced, is the name most associated with the barely-there leg, and we covered its autumn/winter 2026 collection earlier.

The box at the bottom of the article lists the product and the match. For this look the brand is credited, the style is not, so our pick is "similar": the Individual 10, which Wolford describes as comfortably soft, with double-entwined elastane, a reinforced panty, a soft waistband, an almost invisible toe reinforcement and a cotton gusset. It costs $60 on Wolford's US site.

Black or nude is your call, since the original colour is not documented: black brings the leg closer to a dark boot or pump, nude lets a red dress stand alone.

How to copy it

  • A short dress in one strong colour. Red is the obvious choice here; the leg has to stay the quiet part.
  • Sheer tights, 10 to 15 denier. The lighter the tight, the more it reads as skin. Not opaque, not patterned.
  • Choose black or nude on purpose. Black for evening and a heavy shoe, nude to keep the line of the leg long.
  • Dark, grounded shoes. Something with weight lets the veil of the tight look deliberate.
  • A spare pair. At 10 denier tights are at their most delicate: the rules in the denier guide count double, and so does a second pair in the bag.

A dress that dissolves is a one-night idea. A sheer tight under a red minidress, on the other hand, is a look you can wear again tomorrow.
