That is why her Marie Claire UK cover shoot stands out: two looks, two very different pairs, one powder pink and one sheer black.
The Marie Claire UK cover: powder pink
Clarke is the cover star of Marie Claire UK's Autumn/Winter 2026 issue, the "Anti-Maxxing Issue", with an interview by Anna Smith published on 9 October 2026. Photos by Juan KR, styling by Maria Barsoum.
On the cover she sits on a black leather sofa in a fluffy pink coat, Chanel jewellery, opaque powder-pink tights and silver Mary Janes. The magazine credits each photo separately: the credit that most likely belongs to this look reads "Coat, Victoria Beckham; Shoes, Sania D'Mina; Jewellery, Chanel". The tights are not credited.
Pink on pink, coat and legs in the same pale tone, is the opposite of the classic winter rule (dark tights, light coat) and it works because the shoe breaks the colour with metal instead of black.
The leather look: sheer black
Inside the issue there is a second look with tights, the most wearable of the shoot: a long black leather jacket with a sculpted collar over a leather skirt, sheer black tights and pointed black suede pumps. Marie Claire's credit: "Jacket, Balenciaga; Shoes, Giuseppe Zanotti". Again, no brand for the tights; in the photos the skin shows through, a matte sheer black.
The red carpet exceptions
26 March 2013, New York. Backstage at "Breakfast at Tiffany's" on Broadway, at the Cort Theatre, where Clarke was playing Holly Golightly: black leather skirt, cream scarf, long black coat and fully opaque black tights.
28 October 2015, Beverly Hills. At TheWrap's Power Women Breakfast: a short black dress embroidered with a flamingo and a horse, sheer black tights and pointed black pumps. The brand of the dress was not credited.
19 January 2023, Sundance. At the premiere of "The Pod Generation" at the Eccles Center Theatre in Park City: a black and white tweed skirt suit, sheer black tights and black heels. It is the photo at the top of this article.
20 January 2023, Sundance. The next day, on Main Street in Park City: a dark coat embroidered with the Loewe anagram over a long yellow layer and a black turtleneck, sheer black tights and lace-up combat boots. The Getty photos (David Becker/GC Images) cannot be embedded; the Loewe logo is our reading of the photos, not a credit.
How to copy them
- The cover: opaque pale pink, at least 50 denier, with a coat in the same family of pinks and a metallic shoe. A sheerer ballet pink is a softer way in.
- The sheer black: a matte black between 15 and 20 denier, with pointed pumps (leather look, 2015) or, in winter, combat boots (Sundance).
- The opaque black: a 50 denier black with a leather skirt and a long coat, like 2013.
None of the pairs in the box is the one Clarke wore: they are alternatives we chose for colour and denier.
